HAIRSTYLES FOR SQUARE FACES
Square faces tend to have a more defined forehead, so side-swept bangs are a great style to try. Loose, tousled bobs are also great because they soften your face. Any hairstyle that falls below the shoulders will help create length, and you can try going for an off-center part to give the illusion of a rounder face.

SUNGLASSES FOR SQUARE FACES
When you have a square face, you want to wear round/circular or oval frames to soften the strong jawline. Avoid angular frames as they accentuate your angular features, rather than having a complimentary effect on your face shape.

CONTOURING A SQUARE FACE

Contouring is when you use a matte powder or cream that's two shades darker than your skin tone to shade areas you'd like to define or reshape (like your nose, forehead, chin, and cheekbones).

Highlighting offsets contouring by accentuating areas of your face with light concealer. To properly highlight, use a concealer that's two shades lighter than your skin tone to emphasize the areas of your face that naturally catch the light.

Where you should contour a square face:
  • On the sides of your forehead to make your hairline appear more narrow
  • Under your jawbone to make your jawline appear more narrow
  • The area below your cheekbones starting from your ears and ending in the middle of your cheeks
Where you should highlight a square face:
  • In the middle of your forehead and the middle of your chin
  • Under your eyes and along your brow bone to brighten your eye area

HATS FOR SQUARE FACES
For a square face shape, the goal is to wear hats that soften your angles. Hats such as fedoras clash with your strong jaw. To balance the angular width of your jaw, forehead, and cheekbones, go for a floppy hat with a long, soft brim. Beanies and berets also soften your angular features, especially the slouchy fits that show your hair toward the front of your face.
  • Yes: circular-style hats, round brims, cloche hats, slouchy berets, and beanies
  • No: fedoras and hats with angles
